By accessing or using Kokeshi Identifier, you agree to these Terms of Use. If you do not agree, do not use the service.
2. What the service is
Kokeshi Identifier is an informational and research-oriented tool intended to help users examine visual characteristics of Japanese kokeshi dolls and explore possible identification leads.
Results can be incomplete, uncertain, or wrong. They are not certificates of authenticity, provenance, age, maker attribution, market value, cultural significance, or condition.
3. No appraisal or professional advice
Do not use Kokeshi Identifier as the sole basis for a purchase, sale, insurance decision, restoration, attribution, authentication, valuation, or other decision where accuracy has material consequences. Consult qualified specialists and primary sources when those decisions matter.
4. Your content
You are responsible for images, text, and other material you submit. You must have the right to use that material and must not submit content that is unlawful, invasive of another person's privacy, or otherwise infringes third-party rights.
You retain your rights in your content. You grant Kokeshi and the service providers needed to operate the requested feature a limited right to process that content solely as needed to provide, secure, maintain, and troubleshoot the service.
5. Acceptable use
You may not misuse the service, interfere with its operation, attempt unauthorized access, evade technical limits, use automated traffic in a way that harms availability, distribute malware, or use the service for unlawful activity.
6. Intellectual property
The Kokeshi Identifier site, branding, original illustrations, interface, and associated original materials are protected by applicable intellectual-property laws. These Terms do not transfer ownership of those materials to you.
References to artists, makers, schools, regions, collections, or third-party materials remain the property of their respective owners where applicable.
7. Third-party services and links
The service may rely on or link to third-party services. We do not control independent third parties and are not responsible for their content, availability, or practices. Your use of those services may be subject to separate terms.
8. Availability and changes
The service may change, be interrupted, or be discontinued. Features may be added, removed, or modified without guaranteeing continued availability of any specific function.
9. Disclaimer of warranties
To the extent permitted by law, Kokeshi Identifier is provided “as is” and “as available,” without warranties that results will be accurate, complete, current, uninterrupted, or suitable for a particular purpose. Nothing in these Terms excludes warranties or rights that cannot legally be excluded.
10. Limitation of liability
To the extent permitted by applicable law, Kokeshi and its operator will not be liable for indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or similar losses arising from use of, or inability to use, the service, including losses caused by reliance on an identification result. Mandatory consumer rights and liabilities that cannot lawfully be limited remain unaffected.
11. Changes to these terms
These Terms may be updated as the service evolves. The effective date at the top of this page will be revised when changes are published. Continued use after an update means the revised Terms apply to subsequent use, subject to applicable law.
